It’s true that- attentiveness strategies require practice. We all have the ability to give attention to our studies. Actually, attentiveness means the ability to direct one’s thinking in whatever direction one would intend. Sometimes students can’t think or understand their study. Their minds wander when they try to study. Lack of attentiveness is one of the most common complaints heard. Think about where you can give attention to best. Some students study better where they live. Try to find the place or places you find most conducive to attention. As you study an assignment, first of all create a list of questions and then bring to class. Next listen up the lecture for answers to those questions. An additional strategy is that, when someone enters the room, do not allow yourself to participate. Let it be as it may. You can keep your attention on what’s in front of you. Again, when talking with someone, try to keep your attention on that person. You can look at his face as well as make a note of what is being said. Let the rest of the world just be “out there.”
